S1E15 Compare & Despair
S1E15: Compare and Despair Featuring Josh Lamon
This week, I’m joined by the incredible Josh Lamon! Josh’s Broadway credits include Hair, Into the Woods, Elf, Finding Neverland, Groundhog Day, and most recently, The Prom (This show was just so so special!).
This week Josh shares his experience making his Broadway debut in Hair. Fun fact, it’s one of my favorite topics to ask because each time an artist retells that story, I can still see the excitement and magic in their expression on their face, and it’s so special to witness. Josh and I also talk about finding the joy and beauty in our singularity, and remembering that what we have to offer the world is unlike anyone else!
We’ll also discuss the too-short-lived smash, The Prom, what the experience was like, and why it may not be losing its relevance anytime soon.
Josh shares what it’s like to work as an understudy and standby, fighting the temptation to copy another actor’s work, and gives the most beautiful piece of advice with the “Compare and Despair” mentality and why we only set ourselves up for failure when we do this.
As usual, we’ll discuss Josh’s reading, the beautiful message from Spirit right out of the gate, and why you should always come into a reading open, but not gullible. I’ll also share some tips to make sure that when you go into a reading you’re not offering up too much information. I’ll be doing a blog post on this in the future, as there’s so much to be said on the topic!
In addition, we’ll discuss our love for Angela Lansbury, Murder She Wrote (I’d crush this category on Jeopardy), as well as discuss Josh’s podcast, Josh Swallows Broadway!
